Marjorie Billings

7/17/1917 - 3/03/1998

Marjorie and her father, George Billings, my maternal grandmother's eldest brother. George was 18 when my grandmother was born. My grandmother was 14 when Marjorie was born and they spent a lot of time together.

Marjorie was an only child.

Marjorie and her mother Mina on a picnic.

Marjory was the Lebanon Strawberry Queen.

Marjorie never married. She had one serious suitor but her parents didn't think he was good enough for her, much to my grandmother's chagrin.

What an interesting story. I love the photo of Marjorie in her pram with the dog. Very charming : )It's too bad her parents didn't like her suitor...kind of sad.
Have a good weekend!
Such a beautiful, bittersweet story. And it's lovely that you have so many wonderful photographs of her life. Interesting juxtaposition of the two of them... when she was a baby, and then, so much later on.

Marjorie and George...and then so many years later, Marjorie and George again. There's so much there that it is hard to imagine.

So sad that Marjorie never married. She certainly blossomed from being a cute baby, into a fine looking woman. There's a lot of character in that 1960 photograph.

Marjorie was certainly beautiful and I found the top photo really interesting. It is unusual to see she such warm emotion captured by the technology of the time.

She certainly was pretty. Loved all the picture, but the baby carriage one is gorgeous!

It is amazing how long ago 1960 seems!

Wonderful succession of pictures! I love the emotion shown in the first photo - and the picnic, given Mina's age was really two children at play.

It seems to be a trend throughout the world to keep the youngest child home an unmarried so the parents will have someone to take care of them. You are lucky to have the sequence of pictures of her to share.
